There’s an adage, “necessity is the mother of invention”; or put differently, necessity breeds creativity. That has certainly been true as we plan for the summer and look to the upcoming debate season. Without the Canada Summer Jobs grant funding this year to help support our work over the summer, our approach to programming has been one that has been equal parts challenging and freeing. We have had to rethink and redesign our approach to some of our central summer programs.

This year, summer camp will look a little different. We have chosen to focus on beginner and intermediate debaters. Camp will exclusively be for those with 0 to 2 years debate experience, and in grades 5 to 9 (Sept 2024). Though this shift was primarily in response to our limited summer funding, historically, many of our campers have been relatively new to debate.

We are excited to announce that we will have 7 employment opportunities for the summer. Through the generous support of the Community Initiatives Fund, we will have up to 5 Summer camp instructors positions available. Please see below for the full list of available positions.
