Welcome to the 2022-2023 Season!

If a student wishes to participate in SEDA programming, they must register as a SEDA member. Membership must be renewed each year. If you were a SEDA member last year, you still need to fill out a new membership form this year. The membership link can be found on the home page of our website.

Welcome Week

Welcome week will run September 20 - 24, 2022 and will feature three free virtual introductory workshops:

Speech Workshop
National Style Debate Workshop
Debate Day - a fun debate day to practice a round of debate!

Debate Judge Workshop & Mixer

Debate tournaments would not be possible without the help of our volunteer judges. Most of our volunteer judges are parents, family, university students, and SEDA Alumni.

If you are interested in judging this year, we encourage you to join us for our free judge workshop on Friday September 23 at Wallstreet Common in Saskatoon, or virtually.

Speech & Debate Academy

Speech & Debate Academy is a weekly after-school program where youth have an opportunity to learn and practice public speaking and debate skills. They will be encouraged to express their own opinions in thoughtful and creative ways. Open to grades 5 to 12.

Term 1 will run every Wednesday evening from October 5 - November 2, 2022.

SEDA Mentorship Program

SEDA members in grades 10 to 12 can sign up to be a SEDA mentor. SEDA mentors will be paired with an elementary debate club to help run their debate club practices. Mentors can choose to receive an honorarium or benefits through SEDA Abroad

SEDA Abroad is an opportunity for highly competitive debaters to participate in international world schools style debate competitions.

We are working with coaches & schools to determine our ability to host in person tournaments. If a location it listed as TBD, that means 'to be determined.' We will confirm event locations as soon as possible on the event pages.

Oct. 15: British Parliamentary Qualifier, Grades 7 to 12 (Online)
Oct. 22: National Style, Grades 5 to 12, Walter Murray Collegiate, Saskatoon
Nov. 5: National Style, Grades 9 - 12, Location TBD
Nov. 19: National Style, Grades 5 to 8, Greystone Heights School, Saskatoon
Nov. 26: Speech Competition, Grades 5 to 12.
Dec. 10: National Style, Grades 5 to 8, Location TBD
