SEDA members have international success! The Eurasian World Schools Debating Championship was held Jan. 21to 26, 2022. The event is an annual open English language debating tournament for high school-level teams representing different countries. 104 teams competed. 5 SEDA members independently sought out this competition and we would like to celebrate their success: - Rafay A. – 1st place speaker , 3rd place team
- Mahrukh H. – 15th place speaker
- Isabelle M., Will S., Mahrukh H., Sahasro B. – 21st place team
"[...]The tight-knit and supportive community that comes with Saskatchewan debate has enabled me to have the confidence to seek out international tournaments. [...] Debating at international tournaments not only provides an outlet for increased competitive debating, but it also provides me with a platform to implement the various skills I've learned across the years with SEDA." Rafay A., Grade 11 “[...] With the onset of COVID-19, in-person debate tournaments have been moved to online settings, this means that they are a lot more accessible for [...] teams to compete in. Instead of the barrier to entry of having to travel to countries across the world we can access these tournaments in our living rooms! We would all encourage [...] debaters to stick with debate and participate as much as possible in debate tournaments of other formats, it helps strengthen your skills and is a lot of fun.” Isabelle M., Will S., Mahrukh H., Sahasro B., Grade 10 |
