2024 E.C. Leslie Provincial Debate Championship |
What a season! As is quickly becoming tradition, this year’s Provincial Championship was a hybrid-two-day event hosted online and at Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon. We welcomed 68 debaters and over 40 volunteer judges at our annual event. Congratulations to all the debaters who worked hard throughout the season, and a huge thank you to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and efforts to supporting our tournaments and programming. This month’s newsletter is dedicated to celebrating the debater’s achievements at Provincials. Fiseko Musonda Executive Director |

We would like to extend a thank you to the volunteer judges this season. Our judges include teachers, SEDA alumni, siblings, and members of the University of Saskatchewan Debate Society. The largest portion of our volunteer judges are the parents of debaters, who forgo the opportunity to watch their children debate in order to fill the volunteer judging requirements. We are so grateful. The events would not happen without you. We would like to give a special shout-out to volunteers who judged at 5 or more tournaments! - Lorne S.
- Rasha E.
- Aigerim T.
- Ambika C.
- Cherry M.
- Ekta E.
- Mueez R.
We ran eight debate tournaments, two national qualifying debate tournaments, and two speech tournaments, for a total of twelve competitive events that needed judges. Lorne S. judged at ten of our events. Thank you for your dedication Lorne! |
There are three national events this May. The Team Canada Try Outs and The Senior National Debate Championships are both in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the Junior National Championships are in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The SEDA office is coordinating the trips for those students qualified to attend the national events. We wish them luck and will be celebrating the students in a future newsletter! We will be hosting our annual Summer Camp again this year! We will be announcing the dates and location in May. |
