Annually, we bestow awards to members and volunteers who have shown unparalleled enthusiasm and commitment to debate. The descriptions of the various awards are noted below:
The Spirit of Debate Award is given to one elementary debater and one high school debater of outstanding character who are role models and leaders within their clubs and the debate community. Nominees demonstrate integrity, sportsmanship, inclusiveness and an enthusiasm for debate and learning.
The SEDA Youth Volunteer Award recognizes a high school member who has significantly contributed to the SEDA community through their volunteer service.
The SEDA Meritorious Volunteer Award is presented to a volunteer whose service goes beyond regular coaching/judging/hosting duties.
The McLeese Service Award is awarded to a volunteer who have served SEDA over the course of many years and made outstanding contributions to the
debate community.
Student members can nominate someone for the the Spirit of Debate Awards.
All other award nominations must come from coaches, SEDA staff, or board members. Information on how to nominate will be emailed to members by January 19, 2024. Nominations will close March 1, 2024.
